A visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 15, at 10:00 AM followed by a service and burial at Forest Lawn Chapel Mausoleum, 8701 Almeda Genoa Rd, Houston, 77075. John and Trudy were supporters of Houston's Museum of Natural Science.
John E. Ambrose, A man's man, husband, father, grandpa, great-grandfather, possessed a great sense of humor, and a mind for details. He was born in Rochester, New York on March 1, 1932 and died on November 12, 2011. He was the youngest of 5 children and the last surviving child born to Edna and William Ambrose of Rochester, New York.
He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Trudy Ann Willis and his only daughter Sandra Jane Ambrose Darst (Tom J. Darst, Jr). John had 3 beloved grandchildren; Kelsey Lee Darst McMurrough (Christopher), their daughters Abigail Ambrose age 10, Madeline Ellen age 9; his granddaughter Audrey Joan Darst Blank (Damon) their daughter Caitlin Elizabeth age 9, and his grandson Thomas John Darst, III.
Most of John's career was spent as a draftsman at Armco Steel in Houston, Texas. He spent his post-retirement time working at the Museum of Natural Science serving the children and community of Houston, Texas. John was a man of many hobbies and interests. He passed on his love of astronomy and music to his daughter and grandchildren. He shared his passion for science, golf, history and music with everyone he met. His talent was not limited to a beautiful singing voice, but included the ability to play many musical instruments including the harmonica, guitar, piano, organ and French horn.
